Thanksgiving Round II

Wearing his "Thankful for Mommy" shirt from Aunt Laura!
It is not a baby in a bar....but it IS a baby with a beer.
Look at his eyes!!
I caught them all with a moutfull of food. Not nice of me!

He HATED mashed potatoes. Really. Really.

Andi and Josh
Adam and Kait doing the dishes. Good job by them!!

Adam has OD'ed on turkey......

Josh suprised Grandma and Grandpa with a new tattoo...honoring them and 60 years of marriage! It took eight hours to have this one done~~~that is a whole shift at work!

Everyone loved it.

Getting Ready for Thanksgiving

It is very easy to feel Thankful right now!
Not only was the family blessed with safety and rescued from the flames
but the constant uplifting concern of family and friends during this trying time
has been a gift. A HUGE gift.
Gavin got a new high chair so he will be able to sit up high enough to see everyone
during his first Turkey Day!

He looks it over.
Seems to like it......

Tastes it a little.......

Pretty excited!

He is ready to be thankful! It is a shame he can't eat turkey yet,
but he is getting a bunch of little teeth, so it will not be long!
Definitly mashed potatoes this year!

Buddy and Avery were best buddies during the evacuation.

Beautiful.

A Miracle at Gavin's House

November 15, 2008 Wild Fires All Over Southern California.
The Sweeney Women and Gavin are evacuated from their Twilight Canyon Home.

The hill next to the parking lot.

Doormat covered with soot when the girls returned.

Bathrooms (what is left of them) at Box Canyon Park, up the hill from the house.
This was just the CUTEST park!

Wall where kids who helped build the park left their handprints.
People were there trying to find theirs. The heat blew them off the stucco.

This is where the playground stood.
Absolutely NOTHING is left. We watched the slides melt on TV.
This is where the flames were when Bethany was evacuating.
These are the condos that were burning on TV. They are part of the complex, just down the hill from the girl's house.

This is the view from the front door. The hills on literally every side of the condos are burned to the ground. The firemen did an amazing job saving these homes!

Gavin's little park, right outside the patio. (You can see the girl's patio behind the fireman.)
The slide is melted. There were still hotspots here, and the firemen were putting them out.

The right side is all burned.
The pine tree on the right is black at the top. There had to have been flames completely surrounding the house.

The leaves on this bush against the girl's building are charred.
It burned right down to the parking lot and carports.
50 feet from the condo.

All the bunnies from these hills ran into the complex.

The Maintenance Shed in the parking lot.

Inside the condo, everything is covered with ash. Note Dad's fingerprint. Guess we need to clean!!

More of the shed. It was full of paint cans, and could have taken the whole place up in flames.

Hills on the opposite side are black, too!

The walking trail does not look too appealing any more, and the "Watch for Snakes" sign is burned up.
Adam's van. The tail lights are melted, and so is the license plate cover. The molding is melting off, too.

Sign of a Hero.
